The following individuals are the founding members, and therefore permanent members of the club we call The Zoo 2, Two Coat Brothers Club. We reference The Zoo 2 throughout as the short version of this club name. The club is intended to be a real club, however, we are a loosely formed group of like minded individuals who are simply trying to centralize the efforts we’ve put in at building and maintaining a system of communication through the HAM radio hobby, and to control who influences our enjoyment of that hobby. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The term ‘lid’ wasn’t invented by The Zoo 2, however, we have certainly encountered our fair share of ‘lids’ in the world of HAM radio. Therefore, our solution was to hermitize our existence through forming our club and pushing our club tenants amongst ourselves. We will tolerate no ‘liddage’ as we haven’t met a ‘lid’ yet that we liked, so we chose to form The Zoo 2, Two Coat Brothers Club, and bought our domain thezoo2.com<\/strong> specifically to centralize our way of compiling our knowledge base. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The following is the list of founding members, permanently attached to the club, who can never be separated from the club unless all founding members (other than the excluded person) agree to do so unanimously. These members of the club are capable, experienced, and can guide you into the club ways without resorting to ‘liddage’ to teach you. This is why we became a club. To include everyone that makes honorable and inclusive contributions to the hobby we enjoy. We have fun and we haven’t heard a question we thought was stupid yet, other than the questions that weren’t asked. Without further adieu, here is the list of founding, permanent members of The Zoo 2, Two Coat Brothers Club, and thezoo2.com<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n This list may grow in the immediate future, however, this concludes those with the authority to tell ‘lids’ to pound sand as an official and binding statement from The Zoo 2, Two Coat Brothers Club and thezoo2.com <\/strong>and placing that statement upon the ‘lid’ in question as a binding agreement that none of these founding members will revoke unless the original issuing party states to do so. In short, if any of the above have told you something from the stance of the club, that is the club stance, and it is binding among us. <\/p>\n\n\n\n If you’ve ever been curious as to how we got our name, well, it’s simply convoluted but easily understood. The quick synopsis follows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There once was a repeater in our area that was named The Zoo, based on the fact that anything went as long as it was respectful and didn’t break any FCC rules. Some of us met and became friends there, battling the ‘lids’ with all our might and wit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Fast forwarding a few years, and the original The Zoo somewhat died down because of one of the repeater owners becoming a silent key. Transfer of ownership and operation of the original The Zoo was somewhat chaotic and the group that had formed around that repeater just sort of dissolved, with our group drifting away from using that repeater and moving to other repeaters, based on the fact that we needed a place to “get together” each morning or afternoon and rag chew on our rides to and from work. Through changes in jobs, routes, etc. we gravitated to the repeaters we chose based on everyone’s ability to reach them and hear them cleanly. Over time, we developed the interest in Allstar and other methods that we could carry with us, and thus perpetuate good communications, just because we could. <\/p>\n\n\n\n WF4RT, WV4AS, and K4ZRE had the first Allstar nodes of our system with the agreement that we would limit it to just us, in order to facilitate a ‘lid’ free zone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n It was during one of these discussions that a word was used that is ‘politically incorrect,’ which we are not<\/strong>, and we laughed and laughed. Then one of us mentioned a comedian who spoke about his father’s renovation company and an experience they had, with the son describing interactions between the dad and him. I will post that here so you get the full concept. This is where “Two Coats” was born.
